Welcome to the *new* The Decoy

Honestly, there is only so much time that we have on this earth. Something like 4,000 weeks. This means that even if I want to share every single thought I have ever had, it's not possible to do that without engaging with our feudal tech lords. Even now, as I sit and write this, some tech company is profiting off my keystrokes, your attention, and our collective consciousness. This is not to say that it's nihilistic, or that our tools will never dismantle the master's palace. It's mostly to point out the decoys in the midst. As time passes, it gets harder and harder to see what's actually happening. There's newer and shinier toys for us. Better and more entertaining videos for us to watch. Endless podcasts that's just two (minimum) of the dumbest people you know going "exaaaaaactly!". There's the culture war, for anyone who seriously wants to tune out of engaging in any sort of actual, real wars. Decoys, all of them.

So this is a statement of disillusionment. With the state of our technology, that once promised us Springs of Democracies, unlimited human connection, the world's knowledge at our fingertips to make informed decisions. Instead, these tools have radicalized our friends and family, and not to the left. I just want to pause here– I am sure y'all know this, or at least feel some of this, so it might redundant to even speak about this.

My hope then with The Decoy, is to make art, to connect, to point out the decoys. The opposite of chaos is creation. In a hectic world, where the chances of us having consciousness is slim, we were born human. Do not believe the lie that our existence is meaningless and not special. Hold with you the sacred mundanities that keep you grounded and in touch with each other. Pray, so that one day we meet under the stars, and I read to you poems.

May you sing songs of rebellion, even if just to yourself.
